Webinar – Calling Our Ancestors: Combining African Traditional Healing Practices in Mental Health Treatment

Maat psychological

General Description

African-centered therapy is a holistic approach to wellness that engages the mind, body, and spirit. These practices are the foundation of African traditional healing. This session is designed to help participants learn African traditional ways of understanding mental/emotional challenges and how this approach can be used as the foundation of treatment in working with people of African ancestry.

Dr. Kambon is a licensed psychologist as well as an initiated traditional African priestess. She reminds us of the ways service to our people must be in alignment with the spirit within to heal/balance mind and body. This holistic, wellness approach is based on illumination of the spirit rather than the pathological model of eurocentric psychology practiced in most settings.
